With a vision for the revival of ancient native grape varieties, Nikos and Flora Vourvoukelis were the first and only ones in the region to start cultivation in 1999, planting the first vineyard on the fertile hills after many years. The unique microclimate of Avdira is ideal for viticulture, as the summer months\u2019 experience minimal necessary rainfall and low nighttime temperatures, creating a dry and cool environment, perfect for the proper ripening of grapes.<\/p>\n

In just a few years, the Vourvoukelis Estate has established itself in the wine world and now exports to 10 countries, bringing to the forefront varieties that were leaning towards extinction, such as Pamidi, Limnio, Damiaty, and Mavroudi. USEFUL INFORMATION FOR YOUR VISIT<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]At Vourvoukelis Estate, visitors have the opportunity to experience the \u201cWine Ritual\u201d. During their visit, they can expect to receive detailed information about every step of wine production process, take a guided tour of the vineyard, visit the cellar with oak barrels where wines mature under controlled temperature and humidity conditions, as well as the bottle aging area where the evolution of wines takes place. Additionally, the estate offers a guest reception area, an event hall for exhibitions and lectures centered around the world of wine and viticulture, and a tasting room where visitors can delve into the art and philosophy of wine through tasting experiences.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation=”left-to-right”]\n

Guided visits start at the beginning of the opening hours, once per hour, and end at 2:00 p.m. (last guided visit).<\/p>\n

The Estate is closed on the following days:<\/strong>
\nJanuary 1, January 6, March 25, the first Monday of Lent, from Good Friday to Easter Monday, May 1, the day of the Holy Spirit, August 15, October 28, Christmas day, and December 26.<\/p>\n

Admission is free of charge for all visitors on the following days:<\/strong>
\nFebruary 1<\/strong>: The feast day of Saint Tryphon, protector of vineyards
\nJune 5<\/strong>: World Environment Day
\nThe second Sunday in November<\/strong>: European Wine Tourism Day
\n\u00abOpen House\u00bb<\/strong>: Wineries all over Greece, one weekend every spring, open their doors to the public.<\/p>\n
