BRIEF INFORMATION

Mavroudi variety is one of the oldest greek grape varieties. Its name is associated with the characteristic feature of the grapes, their dark red color. This is a particular variety that displays rich aromas and at the same time, an intense tannic character, under the correct vinification conditions. The micro-oxygenation process that takes place during its aging in oak barrels, results in a wine with soft aromas of berries and notes of vanilla. Crimson colored, with aromas such as cherry, strawberry, and aromatic herbs. Dry, with well-structured taste, pleasant acidity, and, rich tannins. An intense aftertaste, with good duration.

Appearance

Moderate, bright crimson color

 

Bouquet

The bouquet is dominated by aromas of cherry, sour cherry, pomegranate, and spices.

 

Taste

Pleasant to moderate acidity, and full-body tannins that combine well in the overall product. A fruity taste with the alternation of berries, with oak aromas.

 

VINIFICATION

The vinification is carried out with fermentation and extensive extraction (lasting 15-20 days) in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Aging in French oak barrels with a capacity of 225l and 300l, for 12 months. Malolactic fermentation has been carried out during the aging period, in barrels.

The vineyards are located in Avdira, at the southeastern end of the Protected Geographic Indication area.
