LAGARA RED

Lagara Red

BRIEF INFORMATION

This wine was given the name “Lagara” which in the local dialect of Avdira, means clean and pure water (it comes from the ancient Greek adjective lagaros, which means clear and pure). Red Lagara is a mixture of 50% Merlot, 30% Syrah and 20% Pamidi. It features a deep crimson color, aromas of wild cherry, blueberry, vanilla, and pastry cream, which are followed by discreet notes of tobacco and a rich tannic taste. Its stay in selected oak barrels with a capacity of 225l for 18 months provides it with the possibility of aging for a long time and a characteristic after-taste with long duration.

VINIFICATION

The vinification is carried out by extensive extraction of the Merlot and Syrah varieties (lasting 15-20 days) in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Towards the end of the fermentation process, they are transferred to French oak barrels with a capacity of 225l for 18 months, where the malolactic fermentation takes place. Aging in barrels gives it a rich and full-bodied character. Before bottling, the Pamidi variety (from the current year, in a stainless steel tank) is added to the final mixture to emphasize the sensation of fruit in the final version of the wine. Bottling takes place unfiltered. After bottling, the wine remains in the Estate’s underground cellars (under conditions of controlled temperature and humidity) for at least a year and a half, before being placed on the market.
